How to put some order in the chaos, emptiness, and darkness of your life? The Spirit of God is there to execute his orders.
According to the Bible, at the beginning of time, our planet was in chaos. (lit. tohu-bohu) .
The earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. ». (Genesis 1.2)
Formless and empty. Our lives are often like that, but we try to push back the darkness by filling our life with much activity.
But even though there was chaos, emptiness, and darkness, the Spirit of God was there. Without anyone knowing it, except for God, He was controlling the situation.
The Spirit of God executes God’s commands to put order in the chaos
Joel 2:11 The Lord gives voice before His army,
For His camp is very great;
For strong is the One (the Spirit of God) who executes His word
As in your chaos, there is a Voice that speaks, « Let there be light”!
And the Spirit executes immediately His Word. “And there was light”. During the whole process of creation in Genesis 1, you’ll find the phrase, « Then God said ».
And the Spirit of God made sure it was so.
Because He has the power to transform chaos, emptiness, and darkness in any situation into order and light.
He knows your chaos and is watching over His word to perform it
What is the situation for which you are praying? You don’t have the power to change anything. But God promised Jeremiah the prophet :
Jeremiah 1:12 Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”
He is the One who watches over his word. His Word, not ours!
That is why it is good to know his Word to say it out loud when chaos is winning the day…
- When your car has two flat tires
- Before bills piling up because you don’t have enough income
- Seeing a friends mariage tearing apart (or yours)
- When those who supported you abandon because you are a hopeless case
- The indifference of your neighbors to the gospel.
- When an incurable sickness shorten your days (or of a loved one).
Speak God’s word into your situation
Whatever the chaos of your life, start talking to it with words that come from the Bible. Write them down if need be and read your prayers out loud. Don’t forget that it is the hearing of the Word that creates faith in us so that God can accomplish a miracle.
« And God separated the light from the darkness. ». (Genesis 1.4)
And a new day will arise for you too!
