Are you astonished that God is interested in your everyday life?
For Peter and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken. (Luke 5. 9)
Peter and his partners knew Jesus as a miracle-maker and a fantastic teacher. But that benefits others and not down-to-earth people like them.
We often limit what God can do because we have not experienced it for ourselves. These fishermen were astonished and surprised that God is interested in their success too. What Father would not want the success of His children.
Astonished that God is interested in the secular as well as the spiritual?
We often oppose what is spiritual and what is secular. But we see in the life and actions of Jesus that God is interested in all the activities of our lives. So don’t be astonished that He hardly spent any time at all in synagogues or political institutions. He constantly went to be in contact with people. Jesus was happy to meet poor people as well as the rich, tax collectors as well as entrepreneurs. Religious leaders such as Nicodemus as well as prostitutes like Mary-Magdalene were people he loved to talk to.
Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him”.
Our theme is to discover how practical faith is in our everyday life.
Making the world astonished by God
So let’s practice God’s wisdom and principles in our day-to-day activities.
- If you are a teacher
- In the medical profession
- Working in a prison
- Sales and marketing
- A Monk or Nun
- Entrepreneur or business professional
- In agriculture
- Service provider or freelancer
- Or someone who works in an office
Whatever your vocation apply this Word in your lives:
Joshua 1:8 «Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. ».
So yes, an entrepreneur may be astonished or even fearful that Jesus is interested in the success of his business.
But whatever work you are doing on this earth; it is time to meditate on this promise and apply it carefully in your activity!
