(Day 1) Arise, stand up and shine!

Arise, stand up and shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.

(Isaiah 60:1)

Frank, an entrepreneur in floor tiles still had to deliver some clients. And that took more time than what he expected this Saturday morning. But had firmly decided to be present for the church seminar on prophecy in Mons (Belgium) that was to start at 2 p.m.

Apparently, the assembly had already sung some songs and the speaker had been presented. He was a preacher that came from Africa.

Frank sneaked in and sat down on the last bench in the room. And the preacher said with power,

«  Arise, (stand up) and shine, for your light has come ».

Frank heard him but his thoughts were still preoccupied with business issues like client payments and how he would pay suppliers.

Arise, shine, for your light has come! (Long pause…)

« Is he looking at me ? » he said to himself.

Everyone expected the preacher to do a powerful sermon on the subject!

They nodded their heads but didn’t move.

Arise, shine, for your light has come! Another pause for a couple of minutes…

He repeated this at least 15 times in a row, with his piercing eyes he scanned the audience.

Arise, (standup and) shine, for your light, has come!

Suddenly Frank understood what the issue was

Suddenly, Frank understood. This was the Word of God for him this Saturday afternoon. It was the moment to obey. We need to change our position in front of life’s difficulties.

Arise, shine, for your light has come!

… When you are in the dark, to receive light and solutions for our situation.

… and the Light that has come to guide us is He who said,

«I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.» John 8.12

Arise, shine, for your light has come!

Frank got up!

The preacher had a shocked look and the whole audience turned their heads and started to applaud Frank…

He saw a man stand up!

The preacher stopped his message there. How many times do we need to hear something before putting into practice the Word?

Arise, shine, for your light has come!

Have you heard it? Are you standing up?

If yes, then the promise is « and the glory of the Lord rises upon you” The glory is what makes you famous.

What makes God famous, is to find some children who not only hear the Word but also put it into practice…And if you are one of them, that makes you famous in the eyes of God!
